ANAHEIM, CA, January 26, 2018 – Casio America, Inc., a leading electronic musical instrument manufacturer, kicked off its Winter NAMM 2018 activities with an exclusive music event at the Anaheim Hilton last night. The Company hosted a release party for renowned jazz keyboardist Steve Weingart’s new album “OASIS”. The local affair opened with a reception followed by an intimate performance of songs from “OASIS” by Weingart. Throughout the evening and between tracks, Weingart shared stories behind the songs he performed. He was also joined by special guests for the performance which included the incredible Renee Jones, Dave Weckl, Carlitos del Puerto, and Eric Marienthal. The event concluded with a special “thank you” from both Weingart and Casio executives in attendance.
“When I first played Casio’s Celviano GP-500 Grand Hybrid Piano, it sparked something within me. Its robust and dynamic sound inspired me to write ‘OASIS’,” said Weingart. “I’m grateful to Casio for developing such a ground-breaking instrument and accompanying me on my creative journey and supporting the release of my latest album.”
Weingart has enjoyed a career spanning 20 years, and has performed and recorded with the likes of Dave Weckl, Chaka Khan, Eric Marienthal, Victor Wooten, and Warren Hill among others. Weingart spent years touring the world with drummer Dave Weckl’s band in addition to writing and co-writing songs for numerous albums including “Transition”, “Perpetual Motion”, “Live and Very Plugged In”, and “Multiplicity”. Weingart then became widely known for his work with Steve ‘Luke’ Lukather, a Los Angeles guitar session legend.
“Steve Weingart is an extremely gifted artist with a deep passion for his trade and Casio is honored to be a part of his musical journey,” said Stephen Schmidt, Vice President of Casio’s Electronic Musical Instruments Division. “We look forward to the success of ‘OASIS’ and we are excited for Steve’s fans to experience this incredible creative journey.”
Steve Weingart is part of Casio’s Artist Program. For decades, Casio has committed itself to providing musicians with the tools they need to inspire a passion to learn, love and create music. As such, the company’s Artist Program fosters both aspiring and established musicians by providing multiple levels of support. As part of the program, Weingart performed and presented a piano technique masterclass at the debut of the ‘Spotlight on Casio’ display at NAMM’s Museum of Making Music last year.
